"Mycelium as a Design and Material System Developing a printable, living mycelium paste for extrusion-based additive manufacturing" - This project explores mycelium as a living material system for extrusion-based additive manufacturing. As part of my Master’s thesis, I developed an extrudable, biologically active mycelium paste and a corresponding printing and processing approach. The work investigates how material composition, process parameters, and time-dependent behavior (e.g., drying, growth, consolidation) influence printability and structural stability. Rather than treating 3D printing as a purely reproductive tool, it is used as an experimental interface to reveal material behavior, process limits, and design opportunities.
